HB 65

Fireworks

While the use personal use of fireworks is often used to celebrate special holidays, it’s not often expressly legal and requires having law enforcement turn a blind eye. This can create a situation where even though the use of fireworks is customary enforcement is arbitrary and can cause problems for certain people who are just joining in on the celebration. This legislation would make personal firework usage legal on Independence Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. SB 140 was passed through both chambers and signed into law by the Governor.
