6057
Sports Development Program
Corporate welfare can exist in a number of ways, where certain industries are given carveouts by the government that subsidize their work at the expense of the taxpayer. Professional sports programs are one of the most prominent examples where sometimes hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars are used to support stadiums. HB 6057 would have helped end some of that funding by ending the Sports Development Program which provides state funding for constructing, reconstructing, renovating, or improving professional sports facilities. Unfortunately, the legislative session ended before HB 6057 was able to receive a vote on the House floor.
