Sports Franchises and Facilities

Professional sports teams and their stadiums are often subsidized by the government to the detriment of the taxpayer. This bill would have eliminated some of the options these private business have for public financing of their stadiums such as having local government impose a taxe to pay debt service on bonds related to sports facilities. While the bill was able to advance through two committees of reference it failed to get a vote in the Commerce committee.
