Last year, AFP supported legislation that created the Family Empowerment Scholarship Program designed to help children and their parents expand their educational options. These bills are meant to expand upon that success giving educational freedom to almost 30,000 new students a year allowing families to find an education system that best caters to their individual needs. HB 7067 advanced through the House and Senate and was sent to the Governor to sign.

Mastery-based Education 523

This bill would set up a pilot program allowing participating schools to allows students to progress to higher levels of learning based upon the mastery of concepts and skills versus the traditional curriculum, giving more options for students to advance their education. HB 523 advanced through the House but did not receive a vote in the Senate.
