Vacation Rentals 1011

Technology and new advances have opened up the way people travel, including how they find and access their accommodations as homeowners can use the internet to rent out their space to prospective clients. This bill would prohibit local governments from further regulating the duration or frequency of these non-traditional rentals allowing more options in the marketplace. Neither of these bills received a vote on their chamber floors.

Deregulation of Professions and Occupations 1193

Occupational licenses are government permission slips to work in certain fields. With around 30% of all Florida jobs requiring some sort of license, the ability to find meaningful and productive work can mean having to spend thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours in classes before even getting a chance to apply for a job. These bills significantly cut down burdensome requirements across a number of different industries such as barbers and nail technicians in addition to completely doing away with restrictions on industries such as hair braiding and nail polishing. HB 1193 was voted up in both legislative chambers and was sent to the Governor to sign.
